In Memory of

RACHEL MAIMON

June 21, 1916 - October 3, 2005

Rachel Maimon was born in Seattle on June 21, 1916 and raised in Portland, Oregon. She passed away peacefully on October 3, 2005 at age 88. She was preceded in death in May of this year by her beloved husband of 67 years, Isaac Maimon.

Rachel was totally dedicated to her family, her synagogue and her community. She was the ultimate unpretentious volunteer. Despite her modesty, her service to the community was recognized by being named “Mother of the Year” by the Sephardic Bikur Holim Ladies Auxiliary, “Woman of the Year” by the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle and with a tribute dinner given by her synagogue, the Sephardic Bikur Holim, in Rachel and Isaac’s honor.

She is survived by her children, Albert I. (Peggy) Maimon, Suzanne (Edmund) Cain, Ralph (Esther) Maimon, her seven grandchildren, Leslie (Leo) Backer; Elaine Rosenfeld; Robert (Marylynn) Cain; Steve (Deyssi) Cain; Isaac Joel (Abigail) Maimon; Mark (Amy) Maimon and Richard (Ann Claire) Cain and five great-grandchildren.

Rachel’s children want to specially acknowledge and thank the staff of the Kline Galland Center for the loving and kind care given to their mother. Remembrances may be made to the Sephardic Bikur Holim, The Kline Galland Home or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Funeral services were held at the Seattle Sephardic Brotherhood Cemetery on Monday, October 3.
